Just some reminders to assist you when depositing publications for legal deposit purposes:

  1. Please complete the necessary Form at           http://libguides.wits.ac.za/LegalDeposit/Receipt, when submitting legal deposit material to the relevant repositories.  This serves as a Receipt too.
  2. Please send e-publications to legaldeposit@nlsa.ac.za
  3. Please note that it is the responsibility of the  Publisher(s), NOT the National LIbrary of South Africa, to send material for legal deposit to the relevant repositories.  Section 3 of the Legal Deposit Act states:  “The cost of documents supplied in terms of section 2 (1) and of the information furnished in terms of section 2 (2) and of the supply and furnishing of such documents and information shall be borne by the publisher”.

Please note that the next meeting of the Legal Deposit Committee is on 26 MAY 2016.  If you have any queries or requests for exemption, please address them to Harry.Nkadimeng@nlsa.ac.za by no later than Friday 20 MAY 2016, so they can be added to Committee’s Agenda.
