RECOMMENDATION ON THE UNIDO



The Council of Ministers of the Organization of African Unity, meeting in its Thirteenth Ordinary Session in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 27 August to 6 September 1969,


Having considered the Secretariat’s report on the Third Session of the Industrial Develo pment Board,


Noting that none of the African members of the Industrial Development Board have resident representation in Vienna,


Considering that the General Secretariat of the OAU is already servicing African groups in UNCTAD and the ILO,


Recognizing that industrialization is an indispensable step in the development process,



  1. CALLS on all African members of the Industrial Development Board, to endeavour to establish resident representation in Vienna, with a view to following up the activities of the UNIDO which is one of the most important international organizations dealing with development problems and solution;


  1. AUTHORIZES the Administrative Secretary General to organize the African Group in the UNIDO and supply it with the necessary services so as to ensure the harmonization of African views and the successful defence of African interests in this forum.
