RESOLUTION ON WORK PROGRAMME WITH:



  • THE ARAB LEAGUE EDUCATIONAL, CULTURAL AND SCIENTIFIC ORGANIZATION (ALECSO)

  • THE INTERNATIONAL CENTRE FOR BANTU CIVILIZATION (CICIBA)

  • THE INTER-GOVERNMENTAL BUREAU FOR INFORMATICS (IBI)

  • THE AFRICAN BUREAU OF EDUCATIONAL SCIENCES (BASE)



The Council of Ministers of the Organization of African Unity, meeting in its Forty-sixth Ordinary Session in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 20 to 25 July 1987,


Recalling its Resolution CM/970 (XLI), CM/933 (XLII), CM/1044 (XLIV) respectively approving the Co-operation Agreements with ALECSO, CICIBA and IBI,


Recalling its Resolution CM/Res.1035 (XLIV), by which BASE was granted the Status of an OAU Specialized Agency,


Considering that the objectives of the OAU and those of these institutions are identical,


Convinced that the implementation of the Lagos Plan of Action and Africa’s Priority Programme for Economic Recovery requires the participation of all African Institutions and the international community:


  1. APPROVES the work programme Document CM/1445 as amended by the Council;


  1. URGES Member States to co-operate actively in the implementation of this Programme by informing the General Secretariat of OAU of:

    1. their personnel or institutions likely to participate in the various activities proposed;

    2. their programmes and on going or future projects.



  1. REQUESTS the Secretary-General of the OAU to submit regularly progress reports thereon to the Council of Ministers as well as an assessment report on co-operation agreements concluded by the OAU.
