RESOLUTION ON THE PROPOSED COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE ORGANIZATION OF AFRICAN UNITY AND THE AFRO- ASIAN LEGAL CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE


The Council of Ministers of the Organization of African Unity, meeting in its Fifty -fifth Ordinary Session in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 24 to 28 February 1992,


Having considered the Report of the Secretary-General on the Proposed Cooperation Agreement between the Organization of African Unity (OAU) and the Afro-Asian Legal Consultative Committee (AALCC) (CM/1703 (LV)),


Considering that the promotion and strengthening of international cooperation in the legal field constitutes a common objective of the OAU and AALCC,


Considering also that the AALCC constitutes an important platform for Afro -Asian Cooperation,


Considering further that a cooperation agreement between the OAU and AALCC will enable these two Organizations to harmonize and coordinate their activities in all fields of common interest:


  1. TAKES NOTE of the Report of the Secretary-General as contained in Document CM/1703 (LV);


  1. APPROVES the Draft Cooperation Agreement between the OAU and the AALCC;


  1. AUTHORIZES the OAU Secretary-General to sign the said Agreement with Secretary-General of the AALCC.
