DECISION ON MARITIME TRANSPORT SECURITY IN AFRICA

The Executive Council:

  1. TAKES NOTE of the briefing provided by the Commission and the delegation of Ghana on the implementation of the International Ship and Port Facilities Security (ISPS) Code;

  2. URGES Member States to take all the necessary measures to ensure compliance with the ISPS Code;

  3. REQUESTS the Commission of the African Union to assist Member States in the implementation of the ISPS Code;

  4. FURTHER REQUESTS the Commission to accelerate implementation of Decision EX.CL/Dec.60 (III) on Maritime Transport Security in Africa;

  5. ALSO REQUESTS the Commission to submit a report on the implementation of this Decision to the 6th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council.
