Decision on the Definition of the African Diaspora

DECISION ON THE DEFINITION OF
THE AFRICAN DIASPORA
DOC. EX.CL/164 (VII)

The Executive Council:

1. TAKES NOTE of the Report of the Experts Meeting and the Permanent Representative Committee on the Definition of the African Diaspora;

2. ADOPTS the following definition of the African Diaspora:

The African Diaspora consists of peoples of African origin living outside the continent, irrespective of their citizenship and nationality and who are willing to contribute to the development of the continent and the building of the African Union";

3. REQUESTS the Commission to take necessary steps to facilitate the participation of the Diaspora in the building of the African Union in general and the Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) in particular.
