DECISION ON THE APPOINTMENT OF THE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE AFRICAN UNION

The Assembly,

  1. TAKES NOTE of the election by the Executive Council of the Commissioners of the African Union Commission;

  2. APPOINTS the following persons as Commissioners of the Commission:

  1. Ramtane LAMAMRA (Algeria - Peace and Security

  2. ATsha L. ABDULLAHI (Nigeria) - Political Affairs

  3. Elham MAHMOUD (Egypt) - Infrastructure and Energy

  4. Mustapha S. KALOKO (Sierra Leone) - Social Affairs

  1. Fatima H. ACYL (Chad) - Trade and Industry

  2. Rhoda P. TUMUSIIME (Uganda) - Rural Economy and

Agriculture

  1. CONGRATULATES the newly elected Commissioners;

  2. DECIDES that the Commissioners for Human Resources, Science and Technology and Economic Affairs shall be elected only from among male candidates from the Central and Southern Regions in accordance with the provisions of the Statutes of the Commission as well as the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly, during the January 2013 Ordinary Session of the Executive Council;

  3. ALSO DECIDES that the elected Commissioners who did not take the Oath of Office during the current session of the Assembly should do so before the Chairperson of the Commission.
