DECISION ON MEMBER STATES’ CONTRIBUTIONS
TO THE BUDGET OF THE AFRICAN UNION

The Executive Council,
1. TAKES NOTE of the Report and the recommendations of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC), through its Sub-Committee on Contributions, on contributions of Member States to the Budget of the African Union (AU);
2. CONGRATULATES the Member States that are up-to-date with their contributions;
3. URGES Member States which have not already done so, to pay their contributions on time and encourage those Member States that are in arrears to clear such arrears;
4. RECOMMENDS the retention of the temporary lifting of the sanctions imposed on DRC and urge it to comply with the deadlines for payment of the arrears;
5. ALSO RECOMMENDS that sanctions should not be imposed against Somalia for reasons of the current difficulties facing the country;
6. REQUESTS the Ad Hoc Ministerial Committee on Scale of Contributions to examine, as expeditiously as possible, the Scale to be applied to the Republic of Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan, in accordance with the relevant Executive Council Decision; and to this end, request the Commission to take appropriate measures to facilitate the meeting of the Ad Hoc Ministerial Committee on Scale of Contributions on the side-lines of the July 2012 Summit;
7. REQUESTS the Commission to continue to provide Member States with the status of their contributions on regular basis and by so doing induce them to pay up.
