DECISION ON THE REPORT OF THE FOURTEENTH SESSION OF THE AFRICAN
MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE ON THE ENVIRONMENT (AMCEN)

The Executive Council,
1. TAKES NOTE of the Report of the Fourteenth Session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment, (AMCEN) held in Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania, from 10 to 14 September 2012;
2. ENDORSES the recommendations contained therein including the, Declaration, decisions and key messages as follows:
i) the development and implementation of the regional flagship programmes as a means for effective implementation of the outcomes of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) in Africa;
ii) the establishment of the African Group of Negotiators on Biodiversity and its coordination mechanism at expert, ministerial and Heads of State and Government levels
3. REQUESTS the Commission to take into account the relevant decisions of the Assembly and the Executive Council on the establishment of a specialized technical committee on the environment;
4. ALSO REQUESTS the Commission, in collaboration with UNEP, UNECA, AfDB and other partners to support and facilitate the implementation of this Decision.
