Regulation C/REG.8/12/2001 Relating to the Renewal of Lease Agreements on the Residences of the Executive Secretariat Staff in Abuja

The Council of Ministers,MINDFUL of Articles 10, 11 and 12 of the ECOWAS Treaty establishing the Council of Ministers and de­fining its composision and functions;CONSIDERING the need for the construction of vi­tal additional works for the Executive Secretariat Staff Quarters at Katampe, AbujaCONSIDERING that the estimated completion period for the provision by the Nigerian Government of access roads and other infrastructural facilities at the Katampe Housing Estate will extend up to the year 2004;NOTING that the leases on most of the residences rented for the staff of the Executive Secretariat in 2000 will expire by Octorber 2002;AWARE of the need to renew the lease Agreement on the staff residences in Abuja and make funds available to the Executive Secretariat for the pur­pose;ON THE RECOMMENDATION of the Twenty-Sev­enth Meeting of the Administration and Finance Commission held in Abuja from 27 November to 3 December 2001;ENACTS

Article 1

An amount of Eight hundred and Sixty one thou­sand six hundred and fifty four Units of Accounts (861,654 UA) representing the current cost of rents paid for staff accomodation plus a maximum in­crease of 10% is hereby granted for the renewal of the leases on the residences of staff of the ECOWAS Secretariat in Abuja for a period of two years.

Article 2

This Regulation shall be published by the Execu­tive Secretariat in the Official Journal of the Com­munity within thirty (30) days of its signature by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers. It shall be published in the National Gazette of each Mem­ber State within the same time frame.
