Lifting of the Prohibition of the Importation and Sale of Tobacco or Tobacco Related Products

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that His Excellency the President acting in accordance with regulation 30G of the Emergency Powers (COVID-19) Regulations, 2020, has authorised the lifting of the prohibition of the importation and sale of tobacco and tobacco related products:
Provided that the following conditions are adhered to —(i)A person shall not smoke in any enclosed, indoor designated non-smoking area of any private or public workplace, or in a public place,(ii)notwithstanding paragraph (i), smoking may be allowed in a designated area of a public place:Provided that —(aa)the area is sealed off from the rest of the premises;(bb)a functioning extractor fan is installed in the area; and(cc)social distancing protocols are observed,(iii)tobacco products shall not be sold or used in any outdoor place near a school, educational institution, place of worship, health facility, playground, sports grounds or sports arena,(iv)shisha or hookah shall not be used, sold or hired,For the purposes of this notice "shisha" or "hookah" means an oriental tobacco pipe with a long, flexible tube which draws smoke through water contained in a receptacle.Dr. Malaki Tshipayagae,Director of Health Services.
