NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that His Excellency the President, acting in accordance with regulation 30G of the Emergency Powers (COVID-19) Regulations, 2020 has authorised that schools be closed from 16th July, 2021 to 17th August, 2021.
The closure of schools is based on the surge in infections at schools and on evidence that on-site learning increases the risks posed by COVID-19.For the avoidance of doubt—(a)a school may conduct remote learning and virtual meetings; and(b)in this Notice—(i)"remote learning" means the process of teaching and learning performed at a distance and without being physically present at a school, and(ii)"school" means a pre-primary school, primary school, post primary school, and tertiary institution, including a university.Dr. Patrick Masokwane,Acting Director of Health Services.
