1.These regulations may be cited as the COVID-19 (Horse Race Meeting at Champ de Mars) Regulations 2020.2.In these regulations —"Act" means the Public Health Act;"authorised person" means a person who is issued with a permit by the Commissioner of Police;"COVID-l9" means the virus known as the novel coronavirus (2019-nCov);"specified dates" means the dates specified in the First Schedule;"specified streets" means the streets in Port Louis specified in the Second Schedule.3.For the purpose of preventing a resurgence and further spread of COVID-19 within the Island of Mauritius, no person, other than an authorised person, shall attend a horse race meeting at Champs de Mars, Port Louis on the specified dates.4.The specified streets shall, on the specified dates and as from 10.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., remain closed and no person, other than an authorised person or a resident thereat, shall be allowed access in those streets.5.Any person who —(a)fails to comply with regulation 3; or(b)without reasonable excuse, is found in any of the specified streets,shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 200,000 rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years.6.These regulations shall come into operation on 18 June 2020.Made by the Minister on 17 June 2020.
