Deployment of Military for Prevention of Crime and Maintenance and Preservation of Law and Order With Specific Reference to Enforcement of Lockdown Regulations

Notice is hereby given under section 19(2) of the Defence Act, 2002, that the President acting in terms of section 201(2)(a) of the Constitution, read with sections 18(1) and 19 of the Defence Act, 2002, authorised the extension of the employment of 2122 members of the South African National Defence Force enrolled in terms of sections 16, 17, 52 and 53 of the Defence Act, for service in order to preserve life, health or property in emergency or humanitarian relief operations in support of other Government Departments and in service in cooperation with the South African Police Service in the prevention of crime and maintenance and preservation of law and order in the Republic of South Africa with specific reference to enforcement of lockdown regulations.
