DECISION ON THE ELECTION OF THE NEW COMMISSIONER
FOR PEACE AND SECURITY

The Executive Council,

1. TAKES NOTE of the Report of the Commission on the Process of Election of the New Commissioner for Peace and Security;

2. ELECTS Mr. Smail Chergui (Algeria) as Commissioner for Peace and Security of the African Union (AU) for the remaining term of Amb. Ramtane Lamamra;

3. RECOMMENDS the elected AU Commissioner for Peace and Security for appointment by the current Extraordinary Session of the Assembly.
