DECISION ON THE SIXTH ORDINARY JOINT ANNUAL MEETINGS OF THE AU
CONFERENCE OF MINISTERS OF ECONOMY AND FINANCE AND ECA
CONFERENCE OF AFRICAN MINISTERS OF FINANCE,
PLANNING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The Executive Council,

1. TAKES NOTE of the Report of the Sixth Ordinary Joint Annual Meetings of the African Union (AU) Conference of Ministers of Economy and Finance and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development held in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, from 25 to 26 March 2013; and ENDORSES the recommendations contained in the Report;

2. RECALLS Resolution (8) of the 6th Joint Ordinary Annual Meetings of the African Union (AU) Conference of Ministers of Economy and Finance and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development held in March 2013 in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, and Decision Assembly/AU/Dec/486 (XXI) of the AU Summit of Heads of State and Government held in May 2013 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, respectively, requesting the convening of an Extra-Ordinary Conference of Ministers of Economy and Finance;

3. NOTES that the Extra-Ordinary meeting of the Ministers of Economy and Finance which was scheduled for 24 to 25 October and later October 31 to 01 November, 2013 respectively could not take place because a quorum could not be formed; and request the Commission to implement the resolution and Decision in paragraph (2) before the Seventh Joint Ordinary Annual Meetings of the African Union (AU) Conference of Ministers of Economy and Finance and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development to be held in, Abuja, Nigeria in March 2014;

4. REQUESTS the Commission to report to the Assembly at its next Ordinary Session in June/July 2014.
