RESOLUTION ON COMORO ISLANDS, SUBMITTED BY COMORO



The Council of Ministers of the Organization of Africa Unity, meeting in its Twenty - Eight Ordinary Session in Lome, Togo, from 21 to 28 February 1977.


Considering the relevant Resolution adopted by the Twenty-Seventh Ordinary Session and approved by the Assembly of Heads of State and Government in Mauritius,


Having examined the Administrative Secretary-General’s Report o n Comoro Island (Document CM/Res. 791 (XXVIII),


Having heard the statement by the Head of the Delegation of Comoro in the developments in the situation in the Republic of Comoro,


Aware of the numerous difficulties still facing the State of Comoro as a result of the occupation of Mayotte by France,


Anxious to contribute to finding a solution to the problem,



  1. INVITES the Committee of Seven on Comoro to meet in an African Capital outside the OAU Ordinary Session before the Summit Conference of Heads of State and Government in Libreville;


  1. DECIDES that on the basis of the Report of the Committee of Seven, a strategy and practical means of action should be mapped out for the speedy liberation of the Mayotte Island of Comoro and be submitted for consideratio n by the Heads of State and government in Libreville;


  1. INVITES the United Nations Secretary-General, in collaboration with the OAU Secretary-General, to take practical initiatives for the application of the Resolution on the Mayotte Island of Comoro adopted at the United Nations 31st Session during the

21 October 1876 sitting, particularly, its operative paragraph 6.
