COMMUNIQUE OF THE 246th MEETING OF THE
PEACE AND SECURITY COUNCIL

The Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union (AU), at its 246th meeting held in Addis Ababa, on 28 October 2010, adopted the following decision on the African Union High Level Implementation Panel on Sudan.

Council:

  1. Takes note of the briefing made by the Commissioner for Peace and Security on the activities of the African Union High Level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) on Sudan;

  2. Recalls its decision PSC/AHG/Comm.1(CCVII) adopted at its 207th meeting held in Abuja, Federal Republic of Nigeria, on 29 October 2009, in particular paragraph 11 (d) establishing the AUHIP;

  3. Requests the Chairperson of the Commission to take appropriate measures to extend the mandate of the AUHIP by a new period of one year, with effect from 29 October 2010;

  4. Decides to remain seized of the matter.
