Resolution on Inter-Africa Legal Co-Operation


CM/Res. 198 (XIII) RESOLUTION ON INTER-AFRICAN LEGAL CO-OPERATION

The Council of Ministers of the Organization of African Unity, meeting in its Thirteenth Ordinary Session in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 27 August to 6 September 1969,


Having taken cognizance of the information provided by the Secretariat concerning the projected conclusion of a treaty on legal co-operation,


Recalling resolution CM/Res. 107 (IX) adopted in Kinshasa in September 1967 on this subject,



Noting that, despite this resolution, only fourteen Member States have forwarded their comments and suggestions on inter-African legal co-operation:


  1. DECIDES to postpone consideration of the projected conclusion of a treaty on i nter- African legal co-operation until the Fourteenth Session of the Council of Ministers;


  1. DRAWS THE ATTENTION of all Member States to the urgent need for the conclusion of a treaty on legal co-operation;


  1. CALLS UPON all Member States who have not yet complied with resolution CM/Res. 107 (IX) to convey to the General Secretariat as soon as possible their comments and suggestions on the projected conclusion of a treaty on inter -African legal co-operation.
