RESOLUTION ON THE OFFICE FOR THE CO-ORDINATION OF AID TO THE REPUBLIC OF GUINEA BISSAU


The Council of Ministers of the Organization of African Unity meeting in its Twenty Second Ordinary Session in Kampala, Uganda, from 1 to 4 April 1974,


HAVING CONSIDERED the report of the Administrative Secretary General on the situation in Guinea Bissau and the request for financial assistance submitted by that State – Document CM/552 (XXII),


HAVING TAKEN NOTE of the report of the Advisory committee on Budgetary and Financial Matters (CM/543 (XXII), the report of the OAU Defence Commission which met in Conakry and the recommendations of the 22nd Session of the Co-ordinating committee for the Liberation of Africa in Mogadishu,


DECIDES:



  1. to transform the present sub-regional office of the co-ordinating Committee for the Liberation of Africa in Conakry into an office for the co-ordination of aid to Guinea Bissau,


  1. to approve the recommendation of the Advisory Committee on budgetary and Financial Matters concerning the granting of the sum of L200,000 from the budget for the financial year 1973/74 as immediate aid to the Republic of Guinea Bissau;


  1. to pay into the special fund for assistance to Guinea Bissau, the sum of US$450,000 derived form the reductions made on items 200, 300, 600 and 900 of the 1974/75 budget;

  1. invites the Co-ordinating Committee for the Liberation of Africa at i ts forthcoming session in Yaounde, in Co-operation with the Government of Guinea Bissau; to assess, the real needs of the Republic of Guinea Bissau as regards the consolidation of its independence and, to submit its recommendations to the twenty third ordinary session of the Council of Ministers and the eleventh session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government.
