RESOLUTION ON THE SPONSORING OF THE CANDIDATURE OF MR AMADOU MAHTAR M’BOW TO THE POST OF
DIRECTOR GENERAL OF UNESCO
The Council of Ministers of the Organization of African Unity meeting in its Twenty Second Ordinary Session in Kampala, Uganda, from 1 to 4 April 1974,
Having considered document CM/562 (XXII) concerning the sponsoring of the candidature of Mr AMADOU MAHTAR M’BOW to the post of Director General of UNESCO,
DECLARES that this candidature is an African candidature and as such, has the unanimous approval of OAU Member States;
ENTRUSTS, therefore, the OAU Secretary General to take all appropriate measures to secure the success of this candidature and, particularly, to address a letter to the Chairman of the Executive Board of UNESCO wherein he will submit on behalf of all African States, members of OAU, the candidature of Mr M’BOW to the post of Director General of UNESCO when the term of office of the current Director General comes to an end in 1974.
