RESOLUTION ON THE REPORT OF THE AD-HOC COMMITTEE OF FOURTEEN ON STRUCTURAL REFORM ON THE REVIEW OF THE OAU STAFF RULES AND REGULATIONS


The Council of Ministers of the Organization of African Unity, meeting in its Fifty - seventh Ordinary Session in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 15 to 19 February 1993,


Recalling the terms of reference of the Ad-Hoc Committee of Fourteen on the OAU Structural Reform established by the Forty-first Ordinary Session of the Council of Ministers in February 1984,


Further recalling the report of the Ad-Hoc Committee of Fourteen presented to its Fifty - first Ordinary Session (Doc. CM/1571 (LI) Rev.1) and its decisions thereon (Doc.

CM/Plen/Rapt.Rpt (LI) paragraphs 92 and 93) February 1990,


Bearing in mind its decision as contained in Resolution CM/Res.1365 (LV) in particular paragraph 3 thereof on the improvement of the conditions of service for the staff of the Organization adopted by its Fifty-fifth Ordinary Session in February 1992,


Having examined the final recommendations of the Ad-Hoc Committee of Fourteen reached in consultation with the Advisory Committee as presented in the Report of the Ad-Hoc Committee of Fourteen on Structural Reform on the Review of the OAU Staff Rules and Regulations (Doc. CM/1745 (LVII),


Notes with satisfaction the task accomplished by the Ad-Hoc Committee on the improvement of conditions of service of the staff of the Organization:


  1. ENDORSES the Report of the Ad-Hoc Committee of Fourteen, on the Review of the OAU Staff Rules and Regulations contained in Document CM/1745 (LVII);


  1. NOTES WITH APPRECIATION the task accomplished by the Ad-Hoc Committee of Fourteen and the Advisory Committee on the improvement of conditions of service of the staff of the Organization and adopts the recommendations of the Committee of Fourteen including the New Staff Rules and Regulations (Doc. CM/1414 Annexes B and C Rev.6);


  1. DECIDES that the reactivation of the UN Post Adjustment System within the OAU remuneration system should not adversely affect the staff;


  1. AUTHORIZES the Secretary-General to implement the new Staff Rules and Regulations as of 1 June 1993.
