DECISION ON THE PARTICIPATION OF THE AFRICAN UNION IN THE
REGIONAL CONFERENCE ON AFRICAN COMMODITIES

The Executive Council:

  1. TAKES NOTE of the Report;

  2. WELCOMES the proposal to organize a Conference on African Commodities and COMMENDS the initiators;

  3. URGES all Member States of the African Union to participate actively in this Conference to be held in Dakar, Senegal, in July 2003;

  4. INVITES non-African countries and international partners to attend and lend their technical and financial assistance towards the convening of the Conference;

  5. REQUESTS the Chairperson of the Commission, in collaboration with the ECA, ADB, UNCTAD, Common Fund for Commodities (CFC), FAO and NEPAD Secretariat to take all necessary steps for the successful convening of the said Conference;

  6. REQUESTS the Chairperson to report to the Assembly of the African Union on the results of the Conference.
