DECISION ON THE REPORT OF THE INTERIM CHAIRPERSON ON THE
PROTOCOL ON RELATIONS BETWEEN THE AU
AND THE RECS
DOC. EX/CL/22(111)

The Executive Council:

  1. TAKES NOTE of the Progress Report of the Interim Chairperson on the preparation of a draft Protocol on Relations between the AU and the RECs;

  2. REQUESTS the Commission to speed up the preparation of a new Protocol on Relations between the AU and the RECs and to keep Member States informed of progress;

  3. URGES all RECs to cooperate with the Commission in order to ensure a speedy conclusion of a new Protocol;

  4. REQUESTS the Commission to widen the consultations on the draft new Protocol to also involve Member States and other stakeholders;

  5. REQUESTS the Commission to present the draft new Protocol to the next meeting of the Executive Council.
