DECISION ON THE PROGRESS REPORT ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE AFRICAN
ENERGY COMMISSION (AFREC)

DOC. EX/CL/32 (III)

The Executive Council:

  1. TAKES NOTE of the oral report presented by the Commission;

  2. EXPRESSES gratitude to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria for its multi­faceted support to AFREC and for all the sacrifice it has made towards the launch of the Commission, and the promotion of an environment conducive to its development;

  3. WELCOMES the effective launch of the activities of AFREC;

  4. URGES all the Member States to:

  1. sign and ratify without delay the Convention on the Establishment of AFREC;

  2. provide the necessary support to the Commission by, among other things, making voluntary financial contributions to the budget of AFREC.

  1. REQUESTS the Commission to further promote AFREC, its goals, objectives and programme, and to continue to provide it with the requisite financial support;

  2. FURTHER REQUESTS the Commission to report regularly to Council on the activities of AFREC.
