DECISION ON THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE GROUP
OF FIFTEEN EXPERTS FROM MEMBER STATES ON THE
ALTERNATIVE SOURCES OF FUNDING THE AFRICAN UNION

The Executive Council:

  1. TAKES NOTE of the Recommendations;

  2. REQUESTS the Commission to further explore the proposals of the Experts on:

Strengthening relationships with development partners;

Partnership with the private sector;

Partnership with private foundations;

Establishment of a Special Trust Fund;

Floating African Union bonds;

Taxes on air travel to and from Member States of the Africa Union.

  1. FURTHER REQUESTS the Commission to submit a report on these proposals to its Sixth Ordinary Session slated for February/March 2005.
