DECISION ON THE INSTITUTIONAL REFORM OF THE AU

The Assembly,
WELCOMES the Progress Report on AU Institutional Reform by President Paul Kagame, and COMMENDS him on his excellent leadership;
WELCOMES the progress achieved in the implementation of the AU Institutional Reform Process;
REQUESTS the Commission to finalise the remaining reform priorities for consideration by Policy Organs in January/February 2022;
FURTHER REQUESTS the Commission, to ensure thorough consultation with all relevant stakeholders and the use of independent African experts in the preparation of all reform proposals in collaboration with the Permanent Representatives’ Committee (PRC);
REITERATES the need for urgent and immediate steps to be taken to enforce compliance and accountability, and for immediate implementation of the recommendations of the independent forensic audit including disciplinary measures against relevant staff;
