The Pan-African Parliament:Appeals to the African Union, jointly with ECOWAS, to put pressure on the junta to adhere to its commitments while working to ensure that these elections, which should mark the end of the transition period, are open, transparent, impartial and fair;Demand that the military junta respect Human Rights and freedom of citizens, and also ensure that President Tandja and all other political detainees due rights are respected;Appeals to the international community to stand by the people during their period of difficulty.
