DECISION ON THE ACTIVITIES OF THE AFRICAN UNION
ADVISORY BOARD ON CORRUPTION

The Executive Council,

1. TAKES NOTE of the Report on the Activities of the Advisory Board on Corruption;

2. WELCOMES the progress made in the implementation of Decision EX.CL/Dec.603 (XVII) on the Activities of the African Union Board on Corruption adopted by the Seventeenth Ordinary Session of the Executive Council in Kampala, Uganda, requesting the Commission to fully operationalize the Secretariat for the Advisory Board on Corruption;

3. CALLS ON all stakeholders, including Member States, the Commission and other relevant AU policy organs to strengthen the financial and human resources of the Secretariat to enable the Board to fulfill its mandate in an efficient manner;

4. URGES Member States that have not yet signed and ratified the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption to do so, and inform the Commission of their designated National Anti-Corruption Authority;

5. ALSO URGES States Parties to the Convention to set up and empower National Anti-Corruption Bodies as required under Article 20 of the Convention;

6. REQUESTS the Board to report on progress made to the ordinary session of the Executive Council in June/July 2012.
