DECISION ON THE 2012 CALENDAR OF MEETINGS
OF THE AFRICAN UNION

The Executive Council,
1. TAKES NOTE of the 2012 Calendar of Meetings of the African Union (AU);
2. WELCOMES the efforts deployed by the Commission, particularly the Directorate of Conference Management and Publications (DCMP) and the Directorate of Strategic Policy Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Resource Mobilization (SPPMERM) to prepare a rational and improved Calendar of Meetings;
3. REQUESTS the Commission to refrain from convening separately meetings that were previously approved by the Permanent Representatives’ Committee (PRC), through its Sub-Committee on Programmes and Conferences, to be held jointly;
4. ALSO REQUESTS the Commission to ensure that all AU sectoral ministerial meetings are henceforth referred to as “Conferences of Ministers of the African Union” in charge of the respective sectors;
5. REITERATES its REQUESTS to the Commission to scrupulously observe the three (3) weeks deadline for the submission of requests for interpretation services and the two (2) months deadline for the submission of documents to DCMP for processing and ensure that such documents do not exceed a maximum of twelve (12) pages;
6. REQUESTS the Commission to report on regular basis on the implementation of this Decision through the PRC.
