DECISION ON THE ACTIVITY REPORT OF THE AFRICAN UNION
COMMISSION ON INTERNATIONAL LAW (AUCIL)

The Executive Council:
1. TAKES NOTE of the Activity Report of the African Union Commission on International Law (AUCIL) for the period July 2011 to June 2012 together with the recommendations contained therein;
2. CONGRATULATES the newly elected members of the AUCIL Bureau composed of the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and General Rapporteur;
3. RECOGNIZES the need to reinforce the operational capacity of the AUCIL in terms of adequate financial resources and support structures and DECIDES that they should be given due consideration by the relevant Sub-Committees of the PRC;
4. ENCOURAGES the AUCIL, within the limits of available resources, to bolster its activities in the development and codification of International Law with specific focus on African Union Law;
5. ALSO ENCOURAGES Member States and other Organs of the Union to work closely with the AUCIL in the consideration of International Law issues of interest to the African Union.
