DECISION OF THE MINISTERIAL FOLLOW UP COMMITTEE ON THE
IMPLEMENTATION OF AGENDA 2063 AND ON THE 2nd CONTINENTAL REPORT
ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF AGENDA 2063
The Executive Council,
1. TAKES NOTE of the Outcome of the High-Level Meeting on Consideration of Modalities for The Financing on the Evaluation of Agenda 2063 First Ten Year Implementation Plan and the development of the Second Ten Year Implementation Plan of Agenda 2063 and ENDORSES the Report and the recommendations contained therein.
2. CALLS UPON the AU Commission in consultations with member states continue engaging all stakeholders to ensure the African financing and mobilization of institutional expertise for the Evaluation of Agenda 2063 First Ten Year Implementation Plan and the development of the Second Ten Year Implementation Plan.
3. DIRECTS the Commission and AUDA-NEPAD to lead the process of the Evaluation of Agenda First Ten-Year Implementation Plan and the development of Agenda 2063 Second Ten Year Implementation Plan with the support of other members of the Agenda Technical Working Group consisting of RECs, ACBF, APRM, AfDB, UNDP, JSSO, Regional Mechanisms (RMs), AfCFTA and UNECA.
4. APPRECIATES the commitment made by the Member States and the African Development Bank to finance the evaluation of Agenda 2063 First Ten Year Implementation Plan and the development of Agenda 2063 Second Ten Year Implementation Plan and ENCOURAGES additional voluntary contributions and support to these two processes.
5. RECOMMENDS the supplementary Budget of US$1,000,000 for the Evaluation of Agenda 2063 First Ten Year Implementation Plan and the development of Agenda 2063 Second Ten Year Implementation Plan as pledged by the African Development Bank and DIRECTS the PRC to consider the proposed supplementary budget through due process and to be included in the 2022 African Union Budget.
6. ADOPTS the proposed timelines as outlined in the Concept Note of the Evaluation of Agenda 2063 First Ten Year Implementation Plan and the development of Agenda 2063 Second Ten Year Implementation Plan and REQUESTS the Commission to report on these two processes at the AU Summit in January/February 2023.
7. TAKES NOTE of the Second Continental Report on the Implementation of Agenda 2063 and ENDORSES the Report and the recommendations contained therein.
8. CALLS UPON the AU Commission and AUDA-NEPAD to support the AU Member States in establishing and operationalising institutional mechanisms for popularising, tracking, reporting and holding dialogues on Agenda 2063 at national and sub-national levels
