Decision on Delegation of Authority for the Election and Appointment of Members of AU

DECISION ON DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY FOR THE ELECTION AND
APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS OF AU INSTITUTIONS WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK
OF ONE ORDINARY SUMMIT A YEAR

The Assembly,

1. TAKES NOTE of the Report on the Transitional Arrangements for the Election of

Members of AU Institutions within the Framework of One Ordinary Summit a Year;

2. RECALLS Article 9(2) of the Constitutive Act of the African Union, which mandates the Assembly to delegate any of its powers and functions to any Organ of the Union;

3. DECIDES to delegate its authority to appoint members of the following AU Organs and Institutions to the Executive Council:

1. African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights;

2. African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child;

3. African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights;

4. African Union Advisory Board on Corruption;

5. African Union Commission on International Law;

6. President and Vice President of the Pan African University; and

7. African Space Agency.
