DECISION ON MULTILATERAL COOPERATION

The Executive Council,

1. TAKES NOTE of the recommendations of the Permanent Representatives Committee on Multilateral Cooperation and ENDORSES the Declaration and the Africa-India Framework for enhanced cooperation of the Second Africa- India Forum Summit;

2. WELCOMES the successful holding of the Second Africa-India Forum Summit under the theme: Enhancing Partnership: Shared Vision;

3. ALSO EXPRESSES appreciation and gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Government of India for the various institutions, training Centers and Human Settlement Housing Scheme being provided to Africa and new initiatives announced at the Summit to boost the partnership;

4. REQUESTS the PRC through its Sub-Committee on Multilateral Cooperation and the Commission to work with the Government of India to revise the existing Joint Plan of Action within six months to fully reflect the Enhanced Framework for Cooperation, with a follow-up mechanism;

5. ALSO REQUESTS the Commission in collaboration with the PRC through its Sub-Committee on Multilateral Cooperation to make concrete proposals for inclusion in the revised Joint Plan of Action;

6. ENDORSES the proposal to hold the Third Africa-India Forum Summit in India in 2014;

7. FURTHER REQUESTS the PRC, in collaboration with the Commission, to complete the Global Studies on Africa’s Strategic Partnership and on the Representational Offices and submit a report thereon to the Executive Council in January 2012;

8. URGES the PRC, through its Sub-Committee on Multilateral Cooperation, and the Commission to deploy concerted efforts, in consultation with all stakeholders, to prepare for the Third Africa-South America (ASA) Summit in the last quarter of 2011.
